How to bring sparkle to your Bathrooms and Laundry Room

You’ve heard it all before, apple cider vinegar is not only the cure-all for everything medicinal, but has at least 1,000 other uses as well, spanning from skin and beauty care to disinfecting and killing weeds. Truth? We think so! Part Two of making your house shine with ACV is all about laundry and bathrooms. We can always use help in those departments, right? Here is a simple list of things you can do with apple cider vinegar to get your bathrooms spotless and your laundry the freshest it’s ever been.

Bathrooms:

Toilets: Pour 2 cups full strength vinegar directly into the toilet bowl, adding boiling water for tougher, built on stains. Let stand for 1 hour and scrub with toilet brush to reveal a brand new shine.

Bathtubs: For mildew stains, use full strength apple cider vinegar. Spray on and let soak in for a few minutes before wiping off with a sponge. For regular cleaning, dilute vinegar with water 1:1 spraying to cover all surfaces. Give it a good scrub down and rinse with hot water. Now that’s sparkle!

Shower Curtains: Get rid of mildew by washing shower curtains on hot with 1/2 cup baking soda added to your detergent. Add 1 cup apple cider vinegar to the rinse cycle of the washing machine. See you later mildew!

Counters: Dilute apple cider vinegar with water 1:1 spraying to cover entire surface. Wipe off with paper towels or a clean terrycloth towel.

Drains: To unclog drains, mix 1 cup apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup baking soda and pour directly into your drain. The volcano effect will drive any buildup right out of the pipes, and bring flashbacks of junior high science class!

Laundry Room:

Washing Machine: Now that your shower curtain is clean, make sure your washing machine is too! Add 2 cups apple cider vinegar to an empty load, washing with hot water to kill any germs and bacteria that have accumulated over time.  Wipe down the outside of the washer and dryer with full strength apple cider vinegar to remove unwanted dust and grime.

Freshen clothes: Sometimes our clothes sit in the closet so long before we wear them again, they lose their fresh look. Revive your wardrobe and bring back the fresh new look and feel by adding 1 cup apple cider vinegar to the wash cycle.

Collar and underarm stains: Yuck! Who needs those? Remove these unwanted stains by spraying with a 4:1 ratio of warm water and apple cider vinegar. Let soak in overnight and wash as usual in the morning.

Iron: Freshen your iron and remove any internal rust stains by filling the water reservoir with straight apple cider vinegar. Turn it to steam mode and let sit, keeping it upright, for 10-15 minutes. Pour out the ACV and refill with water, again leaving on steam mode for 10-15 minutes. Use a rag to spray and steam any internal built up residues away.
