Apple Sauce Waffles with Apple Syrup
Ingredients
For the Waffles
- 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
- ¼ cup coconut or brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cup milk
- ¾ cup North Coast Apple Juice or Cider
- ½ cup North Coast Apple Sauce
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 egg
For the Syrup
- 2 cups North Coast Apple Juice or Cider
- ¼ cup coconut or brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon North Coast Apple Cider Vinegar
- ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- a pinch of salt
Instructions
- For the Waffles: Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pumpkin pie spice to a large bowl and combine well. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl and stir to combine thoroughly. Add the batter to your waffle maker and continue according to manufacturer’s instructions. Serve with Apple Syrup and optional apple slices.
- For the Syrup: Heat a small saucepan over medium heat and add the apple juice, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and the pumpkin pie spice to the saucepan. Slowly sprinkle the corn starch into the sauce pan while continuously whisking. Continue to whisk until the sugar dissolves and the syrup thickens, about 5 minutes. Store for up to one week.
